We all know that exercise has a lot of health benefits for the body and in order to get them, you have to stay consistent and determined enough to push through. One of the things that you have to take into consideration is the place where you will do your workout. Yes, while exercise can be done anywhere you want to, it is still best to do it in a place where you will feel most comfortable and secure. Indoors or outdoors? You have to figure that out. It is your responsibility to know what works for you, as different things work for different people.

Both indoor and outdoor exercise has their fair share of pros and cons. To know more, continue reading:

Indoor Exercise

Pros: One great thing about exercising indoors is that you will be able to have a consistent and fixed routine. It’s good to stay inside for you to be away from distractions. You won’t ever have the excuse of harsh weather or pollution. You will also have the convenience of having all fitness equipment in one location. Whether you decide to exercise inside your home or at the gym, you will surely be able to focus on reaching your goals. Being inside your home will make you feel more relaxed while being at the gym will make you feel motivated with the other people working out together. Both are great options for an indoor workout.

Cons: While there are positive points stated, there are also negative things that needs to be discussed. Yes, indoor exercise will surely take you away from the distractions of the outside world but you won’t really be away from the distractions of your own home. Things like the television, pets, children, email, and the telephone may put a curb on your workout routine.

Outdoor Exercise

Pros: The feeling of being out in the open is very de-stressing and relaxing, which is why outdoor exercise is great. You can also gain Vitamin D from being exposed to the sun, so you should make running in the morning a habit. A lot of people also enjoy doing their workouts outside because they get to experience the beauty of the world. According to a study from the Journal of Environment Psychology, doing outdoor activities positively affects your energy and drive to work even harder. If you want to be free from restrictions of your home or gym, the outdoors are your perfect choice.
Cons: There will always be danger in the open. The reason why others prefer exercising indoors is because they feel more safe and free from harm. The weather can be unpredictable and it may cause you to discontinue your workout routine. Working out during summer may lead to heat exhaustion and dehydration, and doing it during winter may give you hypothermia so before you decide to have your exercise outdoors, do your research first. Your safety should still be your top priority.

Does it really matter if it is indoor or outdoor? Yes it does. But in the end, the decision is still up to you. Exercise is exercise no matter where you do it, right? If you are able to know what works for you then you will surely be able to succeed.
